Accounts receivable (AR) is the money your customers owe you for products or services already delivered — invoices issued and not yet paid.
Why it matters
Revenue on paper is not cash in the bank. A business can be profitable and still break because receivables arrive late. Tracking AR means knowing exactly who owes what, since when, and who needs a nudge today.
